Tasha Butts was an American basketball player and the head coach of Georgetown University Women’s basketball team. She was known for playing for the Minnesota Lynx WNBA team in 2004. As a team member, she has contributed greatly to the success of the University of Tennessee’s Lady Volunteers. In 2021 November, Tasha Butts was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer which she has been battling until her last breath on October 22, 2023.

Butts opened up about her diagnosis during the 2020/21 season with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. At the University of Tennessee, Tasha assisted in all aspects of the women’s basketball team. She worked alongside coach Pat Summit and Nikki Caldwell, a recruiting director. This was from August 2004 to April 2005. In September 2005, Butts was an international professional athlete for Essa in Barreiro, Portugal.

After she retired in March 2006, she went to North Carolina and joined the Charlotte Stig WNBA team as a guard. She played for Charlotte Sting for three months then later moved to Israel. Tasha joined Raanana Herzliya team in September 2006 and left in March 2007. She moved back to the USA to join Houston Comets in March 2007. She played in Texas for the Huston Comets WNBA team until May 2007. Tasha Butts was made assistant coach for the Duquesne University women’s basketball team in Pittsburgh. She left both Duquesne and Atlanta in May 2008 for UCLA. She was the assistant coach for the UCLA women’s basketball team. Hers was to teach the players opponent scouting, perform better skill development, and recruit other players. She coached there until April 2011 to join Louisiana State University. She coached for Louisiana State University until April 2019. From April 2019 to September 2023 before she died, Tasha Butts was assistant coach an recruiting coordinator for Georgia Institute of Technology.
