Tasha Butts was an American basketball player and the head coach of Georgetown University Women’s basketball team. She was known for playing for the Minnesota Lynx WNBA team in 2004. As a team member, she has contributed greatly to the success of the University of Tennessee’s Lady Volunteers. In 2021 November, Tasha Butts was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer which she has been battling until her last breath on October 22, 2023.

Before her death, she had stepped away from coaching a month before. Her breast cancer diagnosis inspired the Tasha Tough Campaign which was aimed at helping raise money to bring quality care to women and bring awareness for cancer. After a long fight (Two years) with the disease, Tasha Butts died on Monday, 22 October 2023 aged 41 years old.
